This 14-unit project consists of an existing duplex and apartment building. Renovations to improve energy efficiency include new windows, appliances, furnace, wiring and fixtures. The project is located in the Danforth neighborhood (Danforth & Main) and is well-serviced by public transportation which includes a 24 hour streetcar line. A variety of services and amenities are within walking distance. A mixture of units target large and small families, seniors and singles.

Nishnawbe Homes Inc. is developing 17 new affordable rental units which will provide safe affordable housing to single Aboriginal women. NHI will work closely with Niijkiwendidaa Anishnaabekwewag Services Circle (NASC), an organization which offers various support services to Aboriginal women. With a satellite office located within walking distance, tenant support services will include long term counselling, crisis support and advocacy, child witness program and life skills. The prime location of this development offers public transportation at the doorstep and various services and amenities within walking distance. The building will contain 2 accessibility units.

Investment in Affordable Housing for Ontario (IAH) Program

This 32-unit affordable rental development project, located in the east end of Toronto was completed in October 2012. A variety of services and amenities are within walking distance including Toronto Council Fire just a few doors down. Public transit is at the doorstep. To assist with the affordability of this project, the City of Toronto waived development fees and exempted the project from property taxes for 25 years.

Na-Me-Res acquired two adjacent properties in the Parkdale neighborhood and through major renovations created 22 new affordable rental units. All units are self-contained and energy efficient. Na-Me-Res, which has traditionally provided temporary housing to Aboriginal men in need of shelter, are now able to provide permanent affordable housing to some clients.

This 9-unit affordable housing project which was completed in 2015 is comprised of three bachelor, three 1-bedroom and three 2-bedroom units. Wigwamen is a longstanding provider of affordable housing for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people within the City of Toronto.

Nishnawbe Homes Inc. acquired a pair of semi-detached Victorian homes and converted the existing 7 apartments into 8 affordable housing units. Renovations included building upgrades, remodeling/modernizing of units and energy efficient lighting and appliances. Nishnawbe Homes Inc. partnered with Peel Aboriginal Network to determine the need, location and tenant selection for this project.
