Miziwe Biik Development Corporation (MBDC) is now accepting applications for the Base Indigenous Supportive Housing Program (ISHP) and Mental Health & Addictions (MHA) Operating funding for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

MBDC will only accept Proposals by email.

Indigenous Supportive Housing Program (ISHP) Guidelines

The Indigenous Supportive Housing Program (ISHP) has been designed to be administered by Indigenous organizations for Indigenous people in need of housing and support services.

The program is divided into two streams:
1) Base ISHP stream
2) Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) stream

For base ISHP stream, please refer to pages 11-14 in the Guidelines.

For MHA stream, please refer to pages 16-19 in the Guidelines.

For performance indicators for both streams, please refer to page 22.

Base ISHP Funding — Operating

The Base ISHP funding stream service categories consist of Housing Assistance, Support Services and Administration. Housing assistance will be in the form of rent supplements (rent supplements are paid directly to the landlord by housing/service provider and are not portable). Support services will be individualized, flexible and ongoing e.g counselling, life skills training and will be provided in combination with housing assistance. Administration is for costs not directly related to delivery of supports e.g. office expenses.

Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) Funding — Operating

The MHA stream service categories consist of Housing Assistance, Community Outreach and Support Services, Supportive Housing and Administration. Housing assistance will be in the form of rent supplements (rent supplements are paid directly to landlord by housing/service provider and are not portable), short-term/ emergency assistance and non-financial housing assistance. Community Outreach and Support Services refer to ongoing supports and services e.g. counselling, mental health and/or addictions supports.

FAQ

While submitting a proposal, we understand that we can apply for both streams or choose any one of the streams?

Indigenous Housing Providers and/or Indigenous Service Providers may submit a proposal for one or both streams of funding.

In the Guidelines, who is the Indigenous Program Administrator (IPA)?

Miziwe Biik Development Corporation (MBDC) is the Indigenous Program Administrator (IPA) for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
